Product info
Brazil is the only country where this species is found. Utricularia flaccida grows there on the swampy ground, hidden beneath the green foliage of the tropical rainforest. The flowers have are bright yellow, almost like a highlighter. The shape is also interesting, as it looks like the flower of an orchid. They grow from long, thin, green flower stems which protrude from the foliage. The traps which Utricularia flaccida uses to catch its side dishes are found under its small sword shaped leaves.
Plant care
Utricularia flaccida is a good choice if you're not very experienced in keeping bladderwort. It needs a temperature around 25⁰C. It doesn't need a very high humidity, so it can easily be kept on your windowsill in a warm spot. It needs a lot of light, but should be kept out of direct sunlight. The use of rainwater or distilled water is preferred, with which you should flood the substrate every now and then. A mixture of peat moss and perlite or pumice makes an ideal substrate. You can find this and other components in our ‘Plant Accessories’ section.
